Summary/Objective

The Vice President, Director of Risk Management will be a key member of the team at Evans, overseeing the company’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and will work closely with Evans’ General Counsel and CFO to design, implement, maintain, and communicate effective risk management strategies.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with Evans’ Senior Management to analyze Evans’ risks profile to develop a sophisticated risk management program and, from there, develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices for the same.
  • Procurement of all insurance policies as part of risk management program, including but not limited to: Property, Casualty, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Directors and Officers, Builders Risk, and Cyber-Risk policies.
  • Maintain and oversee Evans’ Builders Risk Program, including reporting and premium allocation.
  • Administration of Subcontractor Default Insurance Program, already in existence.
  • Establishment and administration of a Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP).
  • Manage all phases of the claims process from intake and investigation through litigation, settlement, and/or trial, and consults and/or participates in negotiations, conferences, and mediations in partnership with the General Counsel. 
  • Train Project Teams in protocols and/or best practices applicable to their projects.
  • Develop and communicate plans to address loss events. Review and analyze loss control and trending reports, and coordinate with Safety Department to develop appropriate action plans.
  • Analyze and provide appropriate prequalification feedback on Subcontractor Partners.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in an Insurance, Risk Management, or Surety broker environment
  • Professional designation is preferred (e.g., Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS))
  • Experience in the Construction industry and/or in Construction Finance/Accounting desired

 

Skills

  • Experience successfully managing a complex risk management program
  • Thorough understanding of insurance policies and best practices of risk management
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking and use advanced problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and in writing
