Overview






Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

 

NASA Johnson Space Center’s satellite facility White Sands Test Facility is seeking a System Administrator to join our team supporting global aerospace and defense industry propulsion testing.  Candidates are expected to work in an engaging, high-energy environment, work independently and as a team, and be self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities






The systems administrator is responsible for providing support at a desktop, server, and networking level, with a solid understanding of Windows and Linux servers and networking concepts.  

  • Provide support for all areas and phases of installation, set-up, configuration, maintenance, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, computers, workstations and/or other related equipment and devices.
  • Assist with the research, review, evaluation, and recommendation of solutions relating to hardware and software acquisitions and/or network updates and new technology.
  • Maintain all assigned systems by proactively monitoring and updating patches, ensuring backups are successful, monitoring performance and usage of systems and following up on such issues with appropriate staff.
  • Monitor network traffic and make necessary firewall changes and recommendations for additional resources or hardware. 
  • Crosstrain with departmental and user personnel and provide technical assistance documenting unique issues/tasks for systems to assist in troubleshooting and/or restoring services. 








Qualifications






  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university in Information Technology or related field.
  • Associates degree from an ABET accredited university in Information Technology or related field AND 4 years of relevant and related experience.
  • Certifications are preferred:
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
  • Cisco
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role.

 

PREFERENCES: 
Experience in Windows, Windows Server, Windows Active Directory, and Linux operating systems, firewall management, networks, and/or help desk support.  IT Security background/experience is also preferred.
