DescriptionSome of what you will do:
Reporting to the Sr Manager, Supply Chain Import, the Supply Chain Import Analyst helps facilitate the customs compliance program for all import shipments into Staples Canada, manages ocean freight and US inbound transportation, supports new import vendor onboarding, calculates supply chain cost for new products, and collaborates with various cross-functional teams to optimize the flow of products.
Specifically, You Will:
Customs Compliance:
- Verify product info from vendor and collaborate with customs broker to ensure proper classification for all business units
- Maintain authorized vendor list and import product database for all business units
- Manage customs compliance and assist vendors and merchants in adhering to company policies and regulations
- Manage FTA database and renewals
- Manage monthly compliance reports for B2 amendments
- Manage courier low value shipments (CLVS)
- Stay informed on changes in import/export regulations and implement necessary adjustments
Ocean Freight Management:
- Secure on time and required vessel space via collaboration with carriers and origin team
- Level load inbound volume via collaboration with the replenishment team, origin team, dray carriers and DC teams.
- Monitor on time booking at origin and alert the replenishment team as needed
- Manage exception approval on late ship and light-load shipments
- Provide comprehensive track and trace services for purchase orders in transit, keeping stakeholders informed of shipment statuses
- Assist in new vendor onboarding with origin contact, document compliance and EDI setup.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods across the supply chain
- First point of contact for all ocean-freight related issue
- Maintain ocean freight rate sheets and update as needed
- Claims management for goods damaged/lost in transit
US Inbound Transportation Management:
- Maintain US inbound rate sheets and request quotes for new lanes as needed
- Assist in new vendor onboarding with nominated carriers, document compliance and PARS setup.
- Provide comprehensive track and trace services for purchase orders in transit, keeping stakeholders informed of shipment statuses
- Manage exception approval on late ship and equipment issues
- First point of contact for all US inbound freight related issue
- Claims management for goods damaged/lost in transit
Landed Cost Calculation:
- Timely calculation of landed cost for new skus, cost increases and category bids.
- Collaborate with merchants and vendors to verify info on costing file.
- Calculate landed cost by including all supply chain cost, and present various cost options by product flow path.
- Provide recommendations on cost-effective methods for product flow
Onboarding New Import SKUs and Vendors:
- Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process for new import SKUs and vendors
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Merchandising, to ensure alignment with organizational goals
Customs and Freight Invoice Review and Audit:
- Review and audit customs and freight invoices for accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements
- Submit approved invoices to Accounts Payable for timely processing
Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Fulfillment Centers (FCs), and Third-Party Logistics (3PLs), on various initiatives
- Provide support to the supply chain replenishment team as needed
Some of what you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or related field is preferred
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and leverage data for decision-making
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong knowledge of import supply chain processes
- Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics, business or related field
- Experience with business intelligence/decision support software
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including supply chain management systems
- Strong customer focus, business acumen and a result-oriented attitude
