About the Role

 

The Corporate Insurance team at AIG is responsible for managing insurance needs of the company and its various businesses. The team delivers advice and consultation on specific insurance programs, evaluation of risk with mapping to insurance and claims management.

 

We’re seeking an experienced Risk Manager with broad knowledge across the corporate insurance portfolio, including a specific focus on Property & Casualty insurances. This role works closely with AIG’s business units internally, and externally with brokers, vendors and nonaffiliated insurance companies to transfer the risk of loss by purchasing insurance with an objective to maintain expenses, and in line with the Company’s risk appetite.

 

This is a unique role withing Global P&C Carrier as it brings a high level of visibility internally. This individual must be comfortable liaising with and securing input from leaders on a regular basis, as well as comfortable consulting in review of coverage and renewals each year.

 

This role reports to the Global Head of Corporate Insurance.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

                 Analyze and assess the impact of risks of loss arising out of AIG’s business operations

                 Stay abreast of Company’s business and operational changes impacting the insurance risk

                 Evaluate, select and develop appropriate risk control and risk finance techniques to minimize pure loss impact

                 Direct, coordinate, and negotiate insurance placements for AIG, subsidiaries and affiliates as assigned.  Review invoices, binders and policies for accuracy. Expected to lead certain insurance programs with support from other members of the team

                 Deliver presentations for internal and external audiences on AIG’s corporate insurance programs, operations and risk management programs

                 Review AIG service provider/vendor, special events and real estate contracts to assess the operational risks and advise on the appropriate amount and type of insurance recommended

                 Provide insurance guidance  in line with indemnity and hold harmless sections or the contract

                 Review COI and/or policies if needed to assist Company’s business unit. 

                 Communicate and manage a smooth insurance transition to AIG’s corporate insurance programs on mergers and acquisitions and off AIG’s corporate programs on divestitures

                 Annually assess controls in place for managing risks arising out of Corporate Insurance department’s operations and processes

                 Uphold and adhere to AIG, Inc.’s corporate policies.  This includes but is not limited to Records, Information and Management Policy with standards, Insurance Purchasing Policy with standards, and Auto Vehicle Use Policy

                 Additional areas of focus including divestiture support & providing guidance on contracts, leases and vendor reviews;

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

       Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Finance, or related quantitative field of study

       7+ years of relevant professional work experience  (Risk Management, Broker or Insurance Co.)

       Comprehensive working knowledge of insurance coverage in property & casualty lines including insurance related concepts, processes, and regulations

       Demonstrated technical experience in corporate insurance risk management

       Excellent planning, organization, time management, prioritization and multitasking skills to accomplish deliverables on a timely basis

       Effective team player with proven track record of collaboration and coordination with other business areas

       Ability to develop, cultivate, and maintain excellent relationships within, and external to, the Company

For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $112,800-$141,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus [OR commission] in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
