POSITION SUMMARY:  A key member of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management department, manage oversight programs including enterprise risk aggregation and reporting, model risk management and third-party relationship management. Partner with the bank’s business unit leaders to identify and mitigate risks.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with the Chief Risk Officer to enhance and implement the enterprise-wide risk management governance framework consisting of policy, risk appetite statement, identification and reporting of key risks and management action triggers, and enterprise risk aggregation and dashboard reporting. 
  • Partner with business unit leaders to review and track their key risks and management action triggers and thresholds. Provide periodic reporting to the Senior Management Risk and Compliance Committee (SMRCC) and Board Risk Management Committee. 
  • Manage the Bank’s Model Risk Management program by engaging with model owners to identify and risk assess the models, maintaining the model inventory, and ensuring model validations are performed as required.   
  • Manage the Bank’s Third-Party Relationship Management Program by engaging with vendor owners to provide necessary vendor due diligence information and conduct risk assessments. Leverage software solution to risk assess and track compliance.   
  • Review risk assessments performed by business unit leaders and provide independent review and challenge.
  • Perform certain second-line risk assessments as requested. 
  • Perform periodic second-line risk monitoring and testing of high-risk areas, and report results to SMRCC. 
  • Assist with the Bank’s preparation for regulatory examinations and other independent reviews. 
  • Support the Enterprise Risk Manager with governance responsibilities and insurance program coordination as needed.
  • Provide support to Bank management and staff to increase awareness of risks and controls.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all areas of the Bank.
  • Conduct research as directed on industry leading practices for risk governance matters pertaining to the banking industry.
  • Other activities related to the above as assigned from time to time by the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations required by the Company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of bank policies, operations, and internal controls
  • Working knowledge of enterprise risk management principles and risk assessment practices
  • Working knowledge of banking laws and regulations and information security standards
  • Action oriented and thrives in a team environment

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office applications and risk management software preferred
  • Ability to research and interpret regulations and guidance
  • 5 to 10 years previous banking experience with at least a portion in a risk management or audit role
  • Four-year college/university degree in a relevant field 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, working at a computer.
  • Occasional travel is required, as necessary.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
  • Consistently operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
  • Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
  • Must express or exchange ideas and meaning with co-workers, supervisors, customers and vendors.
