About the Position

Reporting to the Senior Director of University Personnel, and taking work lead direction from the Recruiting and On Boarding Lead, the Recruiter is responsible for managing the full cycle of recruitment for Staff and Management vacancies, including all aspects of pre-boarding and on boarding, within the guidelines of campus and system wide policies including the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreements. The incumbent is also responsible for conducting classification and compensation reviews for new and vacant Staff and Management positions, including setting hiring salary ranges under limited supervision. The incumbent works closely with campus managers and staff to provide solutions and ensure smooth transitions and consistency across the campus. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining classification and compensation equity and for managing various recruiting and on boarding projects.


Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or professional training program (or equivalent work experience) specific to the position and directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Three (3) years of relevant work experience


Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Experience working with recruiting, class/comp and on boarding functions; Experience in higher education; Experience with PeopleSoft Recruiting modules; Experience working in a collective bargaining environment; Experience working with Affirmative Action reports and processes


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Strong knowledge of Human Resources methods, procedures and practices.
-Strong knowledge of Recruiting and On Boarding methods, procedures and practices.
-Strong knowledge of Classification and Compensation methods, procedures and practices.
-Strong knowledge of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases.
-Proficient with PeopleSoft HR.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Excellent customer service and public relations skills.
-Strong analytical skills.
-Strong organizational and project management skills.
-Strong skills in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

-Ability to make decisions in situations where guidelines do not exist.
-Ability to define problems, establish facts, collect data, draw conclusions and to effectively present information when responding to questions from internal and external customers.

-Ability to understand and apply CSU classification standards.

-Ability to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operations functions.
-Ability to interpret technical procedures or regulations related to typical recruiting, classification/compensation, and on boarding processes.
-Ability to analyze and research problems using PeopleSoft and other applicable databases.
-Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
