Position Overview
Rockhill Management, L.L.C. (“Rockhill”) is searching for a Property Accountant to join the Boston accounting team to assist in the continued development and build-out of a service-focused accounting operation for the high-quality portfolio of properties managed by Rockhill. The Property Accountant will oversee a dedicated real estate portfolio and work closely with onsite property teams who are key to the success of our business. The opportunity exists to expand the role as Rockhill’s managed portfolio grows to include new properties, markets, and property types.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily accounting activities of a dedicated real estate portfolio, ensuring deadlines are met
- Assist with process improvements to existing practices and procedures to develop and promote best practices
- Serve as liaison between property managers, asset managers, construction managers, and third-party stakeholders
- Serve as the primary contact internally and externally for all property accounting matters
- Prepare monthly / quarterly financial reports develop tools and procedures to enhance the review of those reports
- Proactively develop effective relationships internally by understanding, anticipating, and balancing competing needs
- Monitor workflow (e.g., lease data, procurement, and payment queues) to ensure timely approval and processing
- Serve as a resource to colleagues involved in new business lines, tenant services, and sustainability initiatives
- Participate in monthly meetings to review accounting policies and procedures

Lead compilation of property budgets and reforecasts, preparing detailed schedules for owners and managers
- Utilize understanding of tenant billings and reconciliations to inform business decisions
- Analyze budget and tenant billings to proactively communicate potential tenant reimbursement shortfalls
- Develop understanding of establish procedures to evaluate tenant clauses for billing exceptions
- Assist in periodic and year-end audit requests
- Assist with the preparation and submission of quarterly lender covenant compliance reporting
- Prepare ad hoc requests from owners and property management as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
- 2+ years of relevant real estate and/or public accounting experience
- Exceptional analytical and technical skills, and experience using relevant software (e.g., Excel, MRI, Procore, Nexus)
- Commitment to consistency, clarity, and accuracy with exceptional attention to detail
- Exceptional quantitative, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to respond quickly and professionally in all situations
- Ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
- Outstanding productivity and proven time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated capacity to take ownership, be accountable, and learn quickly

The position is based primarily in Rockhill’s Boston office.
