This is a HYBRID position located at our facility in Richmond, BC.

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Procurement Specialist at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you be the main contact for plant procurement oversees supplier management, resolves delivery and pricing issues, and works with stakeholders to automate processes. They manage inventory, forecast needs, improve supplier efficiency, and handle supply risks. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Procurement.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Serving as the main point of contact for all plant procurement activities and tasks.

  • Managing the supply base to resolve delivery, quality, or pricing issues.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders (operations, category management, lean, IT) to automate procurement, supply chain, and planning activities.

  • Leading the supplier approval process within the plant.

  • Overseeing inventory availability and inventory health including inventory planning, vendor operational improvement (efficiency, fill rates, lead time) and forecasting.

  • Developing suppliers in inventory management, Kanban, 3PL, consignment-stock and lean principles.

  • Managing supply base knowledge to manage any risk to supply which may be potentially caused by financial instability or insolvency at individual suppliers or related to supplier’s customer bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Coordinating and streamlining plant procurement activities with the Procurement Service Center Buyers, to supply and exceed production needs and eliminate any interruptions.

  • Leveraging on all procurement opportunities, future and current, to create the highest leverage across categories.

  • Possess knowledge of supply market trends and characteristics (e.g., associations, trade publications and indexes, etc.).

  • Travel to suppliers and other MKS facilities globally 20%-30% of the time or as required for this position.

Skills You Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, inventory planning, or capacity planning improvement

  • Proven expertise in demand planning and materials management tools

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems like Epicor, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Office

  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint

  • A willingness and ability to influence and drive change

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Able to work on site three days a week Richmond, BC office.

  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.

  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination.

  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information. 

  • Operates in a professional office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environment.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

  • Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average.

Compensation:

Salary Pay Range: $56,100 - 104,100 per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
