The Periscope Group is seeking therapists to work as independent contractors to provide per diem consulting services in Dubuque, IA and surrounding area.


The Periscope Group has a network of physical and occupational therapists around the country who perform one time only, in-home medical necessity assessments. These assessments provide objective recommendations to health plans about the equipment and services their members need to safely complete their activities of daily living and remain functionally independent in their home. We do not provide patient care, only consulting services. Documentation is simple and completed via secure online portal; any device that you have that can access the internet can be used to complete the work.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Perform one-time comprehensive medical need assessments in an individual’s home.

  • Provide recommendations for equipment, service, and care needs

  • Complete documentation in a timely manner with collaboration with the review team as needed

Qualifications and Requirements



  • Current licensure as a Physical or Occupational Therapist (Sorry, No PTAs or COTAs).

  • Malpractice/Liability Insurance (may be purchased at the time of job offer. The cost is typically $125- $150 per year).

  • Reliable vehicle for work

  • Ability to complete physical requirements of the job including lifting a 30-pound, navigating stairs and a variety of dwelling conditions, and sit, stand and kneel to perform physical assessment, occasionally, as needed.

  • Experience with home safety assessments

  • Experience with durable medical equipment, assistive technology and home modifications 

  • Comfort assessing a wide variety of conditions and diagnoses

  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and writing 

  • Comfort using technology and electronic documentation 

  • Ability to think outside the box, utilize critical thinking skills and come up with appropriate solutions

  • Drive to continually learn and grow

  • Prior experience is not required- we are willing to train the right person
