Clark Builders is looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager to assist with the Red Deer Regional Hospital Expansion Project. This landmark megaproject is the largest in the history of Clark Builders and the largest single investment in Healthcare by the Government of Alberta. It will run from August 2024 to April 2032, and it involves the construction of a new 200 bed inpatient tower and extensive renovations to the existing Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. All construction activities will adhere to LEED Silver sustainability standards, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally responsible building practices.

The Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager will provide specialized technical expertise and project management support for mechanical and electrical aspects of a project. This position will be further supported by the Mechanical & Electrical Community of Practice Lead to ensure contractual obligations and Clark Builders’ standards are fully met, by adhering to operational, safety, and quality program guidelines.

Reports to: Project Manager/Senior Project Manager/Project Executive

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

•    Manage mechanical and electrical (M&E) scopes across one or multiple projects.
•    Develop and maintain the M&E construction plan and schedule, integrating them into the master schedule.
•    Oversee the M&E bid process from start to subcontract issuance and subcontractor onboarding.
•    Coordinate and manage the RFQ/RFP process for M&E.
•    Provide input into all M&E related tendering/tendering evaluation(s).
•    Review and approve all M&E progress draws and billings.
•    Manage all M&E project changes, including review, impact, pricing, and completion.
•    Work with the Project Manager in preparing monthly financial forecasts, including work in place cash flows, and monthly financial project reports.
•    Schedule and manage all M&E shop drawing submissions, including reviews and coordination with tender documents.
•    Receive, process, and manage all M&E related RFI’s.
•    Lead problem-solving efforts for M&E related challenges, driving timely resolution.
•    Manage scheduling and installation of incoming services (power, water, gas, IT).
•    Manage scheduling and installation (dates/durations) of all owner-supplied equipment.
•    Review and provide all M&E value Engineering.
•    Oversee all required VDC modeling coordination for M&E components.
•    Enforce Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards for all M&E related activities. 
•    Attend all M&E inspections, ensuring report distribution, and verify completion of remedial work.
•    Lead meetings related to M&E and CX activities, document minutes, and track progress.
•    Ensure proper sequencing of M&E work with other scopes to optimize efficiencies. 
•    Manage the coordination of inspection of M&E installations to ensure compliance with contract documents, schedules, and codes.
•    Review system integration (e.g., F.A. – Mechanical, Security – F.A.) to ensure successful operation.
•    Plan, schedule, and manage commission and third-party testing, coordinating with manufacturers. 
•    Produce CX calendar utilizing CX schedule.
•    Ensure the BIS testing is planned and coordinated within the CX calendar, and a dry run is scheduled prior to final test.
•    Plan, schedule, and verify required pre-commissioning activities are completed as per the schedule.
•    Coordinate and schedule all required training.
•    Coordinate, schedule, and record material turnover process to the owner.
•    Ensure M&E O&M documentation is submitted and accepted.
•    Actively participate in Clark Builders' Mechanical and Electrical Community of Best Practices (MECBP) and attend related meetings. 
•    Perform additional duties as required.

Skills & Knowledge:


•    Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Demonstrated leadership abilities.
•    Proficient in conflict resolution and managing competing priorities under tight deadlines. 
•    Solid understanding of contract management and fundamentals.
•    Ability to adjust priorities and schedules in response to contract changes or site conditions, minimizing/eliminating negative project impacts. 
•    In-depth knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and IMIT systems, including integration between systems.
•    Strong relationship-building skills with project owners and design consultants. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and other relevant software technologies. 

Qualifications & Experience:


•    5 years of experience managing large-scale, multimillion-dollar construction projects.
•    Trade background or post-secondary education in Mechanical and/or Electrical specialization.
•    Experience in project management or estimating with a mechanical or electrical trade contractor is an asset.
