Position Summary: The Manager In Training (MIT) is designed to prepare the trainee for a future leadership position in one of our home building facilities, dependent on their interest, skill set, experience, and needs of the home building group. The intended design of the program is to provide an opportunity for early-career professionals to learn and grow as leaders within our organization. The MIT, upon completion, would likely be prepared to take on a management role in one of our home building facilities, to include Assistant Production Manager, Assistant Materials Manager, Customer Success Manager, or Cost Analyst.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Learn from experienced team members in each training program area while gaining knowledge about processes, procedures, and standards, as well as participate in certain duties with team members.
- Successfully complete each phase of the structured training program while rotating through assignments related to the manufacturing process.
- Actively participate in MIT meetings to develop and refine the training curriculum.
- Actively participate in facility projects to gain deeper knowledge into the business.
- Actively participate in Sponsor led projects to gain broader knowledge.
- Actively become a part of the company culture and build relationships with team members and management.
- Present to executive leaders at the end of each phase of the program.
- Present to facility leadership on learning outcomes.
- Produce weekly summary reports.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; prior construction experience preferred.
- Must be able to relocate.
- Very organized with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent planning and follow-up skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work independently or in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task is essential.
- Ability and willingness to absorb a vast amount of information.
- Project management experience is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
- Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
- Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, and crawl for a prolonged amount of time on a routine basis.
- Must be able to lift in a 2-person lift up to 50 lbs.
- Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment. When in facilities, may be exposed to extreme temperatures and other elements typical of a manufacturing environment.
- Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
