Position Overview  

 

SBLR is looking for a full-time, permanent Intermediate Accountant with a minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience to join its growing team. In this position the candidate will work directly with seniors, managers and partners to provide accounting and tax support, while delivering an exceptional level of client service. Your role will include tax compliance and the ability to identify accounting and tax issues.  

 

 Key Responsibilities  
 

  • Perform all work related to the preparation notice to reader and review engagement financial  
  • statements  
  • Design appropriate procedures based on the scope, risk, materiality, and significance  
  • guidelines of the review engagement  
  • Conduct mandates under professional standards by using sound techniques and  
  • methodologies  
  • Prepare corporate tax returns  
  • Preparation of T4, T5 and GST/HST returns  
  • Preparation of T3-Trust returns  
  • Identify accounting or tax issues: consults with senior in charge  
  • Responsible for file completion  
  • Prepare and review personal tax returns  
  • Protect at all times the confidentiality of information

 Qualifications  

  

  • CPA designation or in progress  
  • Public accounting background of minimum 2 years’ experience in preparation compilation engagements reports/statements  
  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP 
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook  
  • Working knowledge of Caseware and Caseview  
  • Working knowledge of TaxPrep software  
  • Working knowledge of Quickbooks and Sage (Simply) Accounting Software  
  • Experience with iFirm an asset
