JOB PURPOSE

As a key leader in the Human Resources department, you will provide supervision and technical guidance to the HR team. Your role encompasses overseeing various HR functions including training, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and auditing of HR plans and programs. Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting key HR metrics and updates to Company leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY

  • Supervise HR Generalist (and/or HR Coordinator) in their assigned responsibilities.
  • Develop hiring needs and develop recruitment strategies, in coordination with HR Director/Exec Board.
  • Ability to run payroll for all employees, Company-wide
  • Resolve any employee issues (payroll/benefits/other), through communication with employees and supervisors, and make determinations on Company position.
  • Oversee and lead development for all HR Policies, in coordination with HR Director.
  • Lead and direct development of any new hire onboarding processes.
  • Plan and lead performance evaluations for all employees, with coordination from appropriate supervisors.
  • Create and organize training and development initiatives.
  • Create and promote HR programs that lead to workplace enjoyment and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations and generate any necessary reports as needed (i.e., governmental submissions).
  • Oversee all Workers’ Compensation related issues for MYER Companies employees.
  • Plan and lead weekly meetings with Executive Board to overview current HR status, issues, and/or needs.
  • Lead any necessary employee terminations, as directed by HR Director or Executive Board, and in coordination with the appropriate supervisor(s).
  • Oversee enforcement of all related HR policies, Company-wide.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or other comparable discipline; or equivalent, highly preferred.
  • SHRM-CP highly preferred

Experience

  • 4+ years of related HR experience in industrial setting (i.e, fabrication, manufacturing, construction), highly preferred.
  • Payroll experience required, Paychex software experience preferred. 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Must be self-starter and demonstrate strong initiative for professional growth alongside the Company.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 core applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), required.
  • Proficiency with computer-based HRIS programs, highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to work with deadlines and under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand company hierarchical structure and execute on the commands of supervisors.
  • Strong skills in conflict resolution/mediation.

Physical Requirements

  • Vision: able to see and utilize fine work tools, computer screens; able to move through the office, production floor, and from point to point to find specific co-workers and in-house experts.
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and deliver information to groups of varying size.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, electronic identification card to entire buildings and floors, etc.) and utilize electronic ID to enter buildings.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 10lbs when transporting documents, printed paper, or similar items.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs on occasion.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull equipment, tools, cart, office chairs, and other office equipment.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer, writing, or participating in meetings.  
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time in meetings or discussions.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around machinery and equipment sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces.
