At SMC Ltd. we are seeking those who are self-driven with experience in leave and benefit administration, EEO, general employment law knowledge, recruitment, creating training programs for employee development and retention, and individuals who can build relationships and repour with coworkers. 


Job Summary:  Responsible for supporting the Human Resources Department in areas such as onboarding, benefit administration, leave administration and employee engagement.      

 

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate and answer day-to-day questions on policies, procedures and benefits.
  • Responsible for employment including sourcing, interviewing, recommendation and selection of non-exempt and temporary employees.   May include some exempt recruiting.
  • Ensure adherence to and accomplishment of Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity requirements and objectives.
  • Ensure all pre-employment drug screens and background checks are complete prior to hire date.
  • Conduct onboarding for new hires.
  • Listen, respond and take action as appropriate on employee and/or leadership questions, issues, and concerns.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of training for employee retention, employee development, and other various training programs for all employees. 
  • Advise/counsel all team members on policies, practices and procedures including benefits.
  • In conjunction with the Safety Coordinator, assist in the assurance of corrective action relative to safety as needed.
  • Maintain HRIS (ADP)
  • Administer new/revised practices and policies as required.
  • Participate and/or lead special projects or carry out special duties as assigned or specified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of four years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment.  In lieu of the degree, an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Previous HRIS experience
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Applicable knowledge of employment legislation and safety regulations

ADA Requirements: 

  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
  • Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
  • Travel by air or car occasionally
