The Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM) is a faith-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to support all people - including clients, volunteers, community partners, and staff - to become their best. We provide emergency services such as shelter and meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness. We offer supportive housing and addiction recovery programs that promote self-sufficiency, sustainable transformation, and stability. Job Purpose


Provides ongoing planning, development, and execution of human resources and organizational development functions, systems, and programs that support organizational effectiveness and align with TRMs mission, vision, and values.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Develops and implements sustainable recruitment and selection strategies to hire and  retain high-caliber talent, such as building and maintaining effective sourcing and  assessment approaches to attract, engage, and enrich the candidate’s experience and  communicate TRM’s culture. Serves as a TRM brand ambassador throughout the applicant’s experience. 
  •  Partners with hiring managers to establish job qualifications to support and inform the development and management of job descriptions, selection guides, interview questions, etc. 
  • Supports HR Director in providing guidance to managers regarding employee/labor relations, performance management, investigations, policy and procedure application, etc. 
  • Assists staff with HR-related questions and concerns, such as benefits, policy and procedure interpretation, professional growth and development, etc.  
  • Administers open enrollment and manages associated tasks, including updates to benefits, dependents, and related changes.  
  •  Oversees the administration and maintenance of HR data across various HR platforms. 
  • Coordinates with the HR team to identify, develop, and provide training and facilitate new employee orientation and onboarding.  
  • Administers pre-and post-offer employment processes, including reference checks, assessment tools, background checks, drug screening, new hire paperwork process, onboarding orientation, etc. 
  • Develops and participates in recruiting events such as career and internship fairs, networking, sharing, and gathering information from applicants. 
  • Ensures equitable and non-discriminatory hiring practices that meet applicable state and federal employment regulations/laws. 
  • Generates internal and external advertisement and utilizes social media and other platforms to communicate market, and brand employment and internship opportunities, and implementing strategies that enhance TRM’s effectiveness.
  •  Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and recruitment metrics, generates regular reports and conducts data analytics to support retention efforts, identify trends and  opportunities for improvement.  
  • •Maintains relationships with community partners, local colleges, and industry contacts to support talent acquisition and/or internship opportunities.  
  • Performs special assignments and projects that support the human resources team and  organizational strategy. • Administers on-boarding/off-boarding processes. 
  • Remains updated on industry trends, talent acquisition best practices, and competitive  landscape. Provide insights and recommendations to enhance recruitment and retention strategies.

Working Conditions


 Office environment. Some travel between locations and campuses.

Requirements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources and 3 years of related experience as a HR Business Partner/HR Generalist/HR Recruiter, or the equivalent combination of education & work experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment practices, including sourcing techniques, interview methodologies, and candidate assessment, with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws.  
  • Proficiency in using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other recruitment software and navigating external recruitment sites.
  •  Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  •  Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills; ability to write promotional advertisements.
  •  Ability to build strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and colleagues.
  •   Excellent computer skills, including a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.  

Certificates & Licenses

  •  Certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.  

Physical Requirements

  • Stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • Observes details and exchanges information and ideas so others will understand 
  • Frequently move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.
