The Role
We currently have an opportunity to join our Finance team as a Finance Risk Manager in a permanent position. This opportunity is open to work from our North Sydney or Melbourne office in conjunction with our hybrid work from home options.
As a Finance Risk Manager you will promotes risk awareness, facilitates risk management, and provide advice. You will ensure compliance with internal and external risk management obligations and lead process and control reviews to enhance maturity and identify improvements.
Your responsibilities will include:
Ensuring Finance risk profiles are maintained that adequately capture Finance’s key risks and legal obligations, and that controls are in place to address these risks and obligations.
- Facilitating obligation and delivered risk assessments on major projects (i.e.CPS230
- Improve the risk maturity of finance and help Finance to embed system based preventative controls and improve detective control
- Controls – design, review and monitor effective key and non-key controls effectively for risk mitigation and undertake frequent assessments on effectiveness
- Participate in the review of processes to automate, simplify and ensure they are at or above industry standard
- Drive a strong risk culture across the Finance team, promoting the awareness of risk management and reporting obligations and assisting with the timely logging, management and closure of risk events and issues.
- Supporting the Line 2 Risk function in rolling out and embedding risk management initiatives.
- Produce and review monthly Finance risk management pack to provide an update on all new, open and closed items, and provide an early notification to finance management of any emerging issues likely to be discussed at the monthly Risk Management Forum.
- Lead the finance at monthly Risk Management Forums and support the Regulatory Change Forums and other risk related discussions.
- Monitor and report on all Finance compliance with corporate policies standards and frameworks and co-ordinate the annual review of Finance owned corporate policies.
- Co-ordinate and support Finance management through all attestations and disclosures, preparation of reporting to the Board and BAC
About you
- Qualified accountant (CA or equivalent) or actuary (preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in the Financial Services industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with people at all levels
- Controls focused with good understanding of operational and compliance risk management practices
- Persistent, able to influence and negotiate with others to ensure the required level of focus on risk management activity amongst competing finance priorities
- Organised and able to manage multiple competing deliverables and coordinate activity across multiple individuals and teams to achieve timely and high-quality outcomes.
