Job Description

The primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and maintain a Corporate Ethics & Compliance Program and serves at the facility Ethics & Compliance Officer ("ECO"). The position incumbent ensures all organizational policies, procedures and practices, pertinent laws, regulations, and statutes with respect to state and federal heathcare programs are being followed and adhered to. The ECO will be founded on the seven elements of an effective compliance program as recommended by the Department of Health & Human Services' Office of Inspector General (OIG). The incumbent will develop an annual compliance workplan and a Code of Conduct that must be approved by the Compliance Committee and the Board of Directors. The ECO will organize and monitor the employee confidential reporting hotline mechanism, assist in the development of compliance-related policies and procedures, conduct periodic assessments in high risk areas, ensure hospital staff are adequately trained and educated on the CCP, and chair and advise the Compliance Committee to ensure high level oversight. Furthermore, the ECO will distribute regulatory updates, fraud and waste alerts, and other relevant information to departments and will safeguard hospital assets through regular assessments and monitoring. The position incumbent is also responsible for the corporate conflicts of interest policy program. If deficiencies are found, the ECO will work in conjunction with the departments impacted to complete improvement action plans and enforce discipline as appropriate. The ECO will also have oversight of HIPAA Privacy and Security- related issues. Finally, the ECO will advise of issues and progress of the CCP to the CEO and/or the Board of Directors, as appropriate.  

Qualifications

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:  
Relevant ethics and compliance certification in health care preferred.  
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution required, with a major field of study inHealth Services Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field. Masters Degree preferred.  
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  
6-8 years of regulatory compliance experience in a similarly sized healthcare system or facility, including a minimum of three years leadership experience. Experience in successfully implementing ethics and compliance initiatives required.
