Environmental Health Safety and Security (EHS&S) Compliance Specialist will assist in ensuring that BM&Co. complies with EHS&S, risk management,  legal and regulatory standards, procedures, and policies. Duties will include documenting and evaluating compliance activities, delivering employee training on compliance matters, handling complaints, and liaising with government agencies.

To be successful as an EHS&S Compliance Specialist, an employee must be detail-oriented, professional, and self-motivated with a keen interest in the EHS&S compliance issues. They should also have strong analytical thinking skills and be able to maintain meticulous records of EHS&S deficiencies and compliance activities.









Responsibilities






  • Assist in internal EHS&S compliance audits
  • Communicate EHS&S compliance audit findings and recommendations verbally and in writing
  • Assists in the continuing development and execution of the companywide audit and compliance EHS&S systems
  • Assist in the identification, investigation, and tracking of EHS&S compliance deficiencies, irregularities, and violations
  • Develop a working understanding of EHS&S Federal, State, and local laws, legal codes, procedures, and other relevant regulatory standards and assist in the interpretation to facilities as necessary. (US, Canada, and international requirements)
  • Assist with the preparation of EHS&S reports and ongoing maintenance of licenses and permits, providing review and feedback regarding non-routine reporting and communications
  • Assist in the development of EHS&S systems to support manufacturing, distribution, administrative, and product development groups
  • Assist in the development of EHS&S compliance Standards, programs, practices, and reporting systems
  • Maintain records and track EHS&S compliance activities
  • Maintain records for worker’s compensation cases and track compliance-related activities
  • Communicate regularly with the Supply Chain Organization management team
  • Support the Corporate sustainability strategy, goals, and metrics in conjunction with external experts and relevant cross-functional teams (i.e., corporate, engineering) at all facilities








Qualifications






  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental management, EHS&S management, or related science
  • 1-3 years experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work on initiatives individually and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of EHS&S Federal, State, and local laws, legal codes, procedures, and other relevant regulatory standards
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skill set and ability to analyze data sets
  • Strong technical writing and computer literacy are required
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and verbal communication skills are required
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of paint or chemical manufacturing is a plus.
