SUMMARY: Responsible for developing, implementing and administering company-wide inventory management programs to ensure the company can provide high levels of product availability (right products, right place, and right time).  The Director of Supply Chain oversees all processes relating to purchasing, order acknowledging, inventory planning, product life cycle management, dispositioning of slow/dead inventory, and compliance to import/export & hazmat regulations.  The Director of Supply Chain will also be responsible for driving process improvement projects. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages stocking parameters associated with the forecasting and purchasing and of inventory
  • Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality and efficiency of operations
  • Coordinates and resolves issues regarding existing and new products
  • Works with sales to minimize obsolescence risks
  • Familiar with supplier programs relating to volume discounts, freight programs, and rebates and aligns purchasing behaviors to optimize BHID cost position 
  • Balances inventory costs with operational costs associated with ordering, handling product, and holding inventory
  • Interacts with customers (internal and external) to ensure that all requirements are being met
  • Ensures that all import/export regulations are being followed in order to minimize compliance risks to the company
  • Acts as a strong mentor to develop and prepare direct reports for additional responsibility

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with required software programs
  • Proficient at problems solving
  • Proficient time management and organizational skills
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct supervisory responsibility. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • 10 years in progressive leadership roles in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management roles required.

 

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • None required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Employee is regularly required to speak and hear English, stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to use computer and other equipment.
  • Employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to _25_ pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to clearly focus vision.
