Description

The Construction Lending Risk Manager will oversee and manage the risk assessment and mitigation processes for our private lending construction projects. This role is crucial for ensuring that potential risks are identified, evaluated, and controlled effectively, safeguarding our investments and ensuring project success. 


Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for all phases of construction lending projects, identifying potential financial and operational hazards and developing strategies to mitigate them. 
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk management plans, policies, and procedures to minimize risks associated with construction financing activities. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal lending regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices. 
  • Due Diligence: Lead due diligence efforts for new lending opportunities, including reviewing project feasibility, financial stability, and compliance with lending criteria. 
  • Escrow Control: Oversee the management of escrow accounts to ensure proper allocation and disbursement of funds, in accordance with project milestones and compliance requirements. 
  • Fund Management: Monitor and manage the flow of funds for construction projects, ensuring that financing is used effectively and transparently to achieve project goals. 
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on the status of lending projects, including risk assessments, incident investigations, and compliance audits. 
  • Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to lending teams on risk management practices, policies, and procedures specific to construction lending. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with portfolio managers, underwriters, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management in the lending process. 



Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, construction management, risk management, or related field. Or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction lending risk management or a related field. 
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, financial analysis, lending regulations, and risk management principles. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Keen eye for detail and the ability to spot potential risks before they become issues. 
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, driving a culture of safety and risk awareness.
