American Crystal is looking for an individual to join our team as a Compliance Specialist at our corporate office. This position will accurately coordinate the shareholder compliance for the company to include the stock transfer process; maintain accurate shareholder records including stock and equity.  Maintain accounts receivables and beet procurement systems as well as assisting and serving as back-up issuing beet and equity revolvement payments to approximately 2,600 shareholders.

The principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
  • Assist with Company’s compliance by maintaining accurate information and accounting of beet payments, grower reports, stock transfers and equity accounting for all American Crystal Shareholders.
  • Assist and serve as backup to the Shareholder Compliance Analyst.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Accurately apply payments received, reconcile balances and maintains accounts receivables accordingly.
  • Gather, generate and maintain confidential information from multiple sources, organize and combine for transactions of sensitive nature.
  • Create, maintain and assist with equity transfer application forms and equity reports for Board of Director consideration.
  • Initiate stock transfer applications, scrutinize transferees for ownership, and Active Farmer compliance.
  • Initiate and respond to meetings with growers and/or brokers in person, through the mail, email or phone calls.
  • Review and update shareholder information and voter registration, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Maintain Political Action Committee deductions and contributions from shareholders.
  • Execute UCC Agreements.
  • Distribute annual reports for current and former American Crystal Shareholders with calendar year transactions.
  • Assist in preparation of tax notices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION‑MAKING AUTHORITY:

This position will interact with all shareholders. Provides top notch compliance and customer service through respectfully answering their calls, providing accurate and timely responses, and meeting with them in a professional manner. Responsible for coordinating information from several sources in preparation of stock transfer applications and ensuring the accuracy of beet payments.  Coordinates workload to meet deadlines and performs daily activities with minimal supervision and consultation with supervisor.

To be successful in this position requires an Associate Degree in Business or Accounting with two to four years of related work experience. Requires knowledge of accounting, all Office 365 products with focus on Microsoft Excel, and Adobe products. Planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills are critical.
