Job Description:
This job is responsible for executing second line of defense compliance and operational risk oversight for a Front Line Unit, Control Function, and/or Third Parties. Key responsibilities include ensuring requirements of the Global Compliance Enterprise Policy, the Operational Risk Management Enterprise Policy (collectively “the Policies”), the Compliance and Operational Risk Management Program and Standard Operating Procedures are implemented and identifying, challenging, escalating, and mitigating risks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

The execution of Global Financial Crimes Operations by Global Operations FLU teams (Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions), pose significant risks to the Bank, including, Operational Risk, Reputational Risk and Compliance Risk. The Global Operations Chief Risk Officer (GO CRO) must have clarity and reporting into key activities (e.g., MRAs & issue remediation, metrics, regulatory interactions, significant Change projects) by these FLUs to identify and evaluate risks to the Bank of non-adherence to Financial Crimes and Bank Policies & Standards. An independent point of view over Inherent Risk and Effectiveness of Controls across Global Operations, inclusive of AML/Sanctions, is the responsibility of the GO CRO to accurately and timely escalate risks to Sr. Management.

This role will be primarily responsible to review and synthesize data and report to the GO CRO an independent point of view (POV) of the Risks related to the Global Operations FLUs operationalization of Bank Policies, including but not limited to, Financial Crimes.

  • Review indicative data (regulatory exam and issues, management raised issues, GFC outcomes from coverage activities, metric performance) related to GO AML/Sanctions processes and controls and develop and report a separate independent point of view on GO effectiveness of those processes / controls.

  • Engagement in governance and applicable FLU routines related to AML and Sanctions

  • Coordinate across risk and participate in material Global Operations Material Projects involving AML and Sanctions

  • Stay current on GO Processes related to Financial Crimes Law Rules and Regulations

Required Skills:

  • 15 Years+ experience in banking operations, audit, or compliance or operational risk experience at a large financial firm. 

  • Knowledge of end-to-end processes of the Operational FLUs that perform daily AML, Sanctions and Commercial Fraud processes. 

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills to challenge, advise, and provide an independent Point of View to Sr. Management

Pay range

$96,000.00 - $172,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
