Chief Compliance Officer & Counsel

The Community Choice Financial® Family of Brands is currently seeking a Chief Compliance Officer to serve as a key member of the Company’s leadership team. As Chief Compliance Officer, you will perform corporate governance activities, oversight for the business, engage in supporting broad-based compliance, and mitigate enterprise risk for the Company.  You will use your thorough knowledge of specialty consumer finance laws, Compliance Management System management, State Regulatory Compliance requirements, and BSA/AML program management.









Responsibilities






  • Provide strategic vision for the Compliance Department as a whole, with a principal focus on ongoing enhancements and evolution of the existing Compliance Management System (“CMS”) and promoting an overall culture of compliance at corporate and across the Company’s geographic footprint.
  • Maintain compliance policies and related procedures associated with the offering of consumer credit products and services, with a view to ongoing improvements and enhancements to the same (including for new states and products).
  • Promote state regulatory compliance by supporting matters related to state examinations/audits through full-life cycle of the CMS.
  • As part of the overall CMS, with the support of assigned resources, design and implement a comprehensive compliance audit program.
  • As part of the overall CMS, develop, implement, evaluate and enhance compliance risk assessment policies, procedures, protocols and practices, and execute on the same with key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership for new product development initiatives and ongoing brand initiatives, including developing risk mitigation strategies and a comprehensive understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws regarding the same; maintain positive and collaborative relationships with relevant inter-department stakeholders.
  • Directly manage Financial Intelligence Unit, Compliance Audit, and Business Unit Compliance Officers teams.
  • Develop, review, recommend, and implement new techniques, policies and/or procedures aimed at improving the productivity, reliability, technical innovation, and quality of the Compliance Department’s work output.
  • Maintain working, in-depth knowledge related to traditional federal and state consumer lending law, including BSA/AML, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, TILA, GLB, UDAAP, Dodd-Frank Act, TCPA and state lending laws, and monitor updates, trends and changes to laws, regulations, and other compliance trends and best practices as needed to maintain compliant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Effectively interface with executive Team Members and Board to report on CMS matters, including risk assessment and exposure, risk mitigation activities, compliance metrics, etc., and provide support, advice and counsel on strategic issues and concerns.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands for this position, which frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the office, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard.








Qualifications






  • Minimum of 15 years of compliance experience in the disciplines within the consumer lending space
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in at least one state bar in U.S.
  • Working, in-depth knowledge and experience related to traditional federal and state consumer lending law, including BSA/AML, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, TILA, GLB, UDAAP, Dodd-Frank Act, TCPA and state lending laws
  • Ability to understand and resolve complex compliance and business issues as they pertain to new products and new market entry.
  • Proven management and leadership experience with building and developing a compliance and/or legal team.
