About Us

We are Australian Spatial Analytics and we deliver real world data projects to Commercial and Government clients. We employ, train and deliver projects across most GIS and Digital Engineering disciplines, while maintaining our core mission to help our analysts transition into the broader workforce where their career can take flight!

We are over 140 strong and have an extensive track record of successful projects, including winning many Australian and Global awards, such as the Lord Mayor’s Business award for “Outstanding Social Enterprise” and, more recently, the Australian Financial Review BOSS “2024 Most Innovative Companies”.

ASA fills a vital place in the changing labour markets by finding and supplying new Spatial and Digital Engineering professionals into a market needing at least 1,500 new professionals every year.

About the Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a self-motivated Business Development Manager to support the growth of our B2B relationships through the procurement of new contracts, developing client relationships, and securing new business for Australian Spatial Analytics.

As the Business Development Manager you will work in a dynamic team reporting to the National Sales Manager and assisting in finding new employment transition opportunities, as well as project opportunities for our team, creating and following up on contract leads, and building positive client relations. This is a multifaceted role, and you may be expected to manage accounts as they come online as well as their relationship with clients.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring growth of our organisation, maintaining client relations, and supporting organisational growth.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Develop a solid pipeline of leads, then converting to key accounts, supporting sales execution and business growth

  • Lead the development of business proposals utilising support from multiple departments

  • Understand current and future pipeline and technical capabilities of different teams, and align opportunities to ensure a smooth transition

  • Track individual sales performance, report sales metrics and accurately forecast sales revenue

  • Support client relationships and satisfaction to successfully achieve growth targets aligned with ASA’s strategy

  • Take ownership of all leads, researching organisations, contacting the potential clients, and arranging meetings to qualify opportunities

  • Employ Stakeholder management, Fostering effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

  • Assisting in marketing communication planning, including collaborating with the National Sales Manager and Marcomms team to develop marketing communication plans and strategies that align with the overall marketing objectives.

  • Ensure Marketing Performance Tracking and Reporting by supporting the collection and analysis of data related to marketing communication initiatives and report production

Required Skills & Experience


  • Experience in business-to-business sales or business development roles selling Professional Services in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.

  • Experience in transforming strategy into an operational sales model with recognised B2B complex sales

  • Experience with recognised CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, Monday, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho, Netsuite)

  • Experience and successful sales in the science or digital space

  • Technical literacy in your field, with the capacity to converse in the language of a broader range of disciplines

  • Ability to self-motivate and work constructively with your own guidance

  • Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships face-to-face, over the phone, or over video.

  • Ability to negotiate and build rapport in a high-pressure environment

  • A level of computer literacy to perform day-to-day functions of the role

Preferred Skills & Experience


  • Experience or understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

  • Market Knowledge of GIS and Digital Engineering Professional Services

  • Experience or understanding of working with a neurodiverse team
