In collaboration with broker partners, this person will oversee and drive the business development of the Canadian domestic Foodservice sector, encompassing segments such as Hospitality, Healthcare, Education, Business & Industry, Cash & Carry, Airlines, Licensee, select Independent Grocery accounts, and Alternative Channels. Lead the expansion of the company’s portfolio, NPD distribution, and sales while setting annual objectives, guiding the sales team in executing business plans, tracking performance, and analyzing competitive activity and market trends. Foster long-term relationships with Foodservice operator buyers and stakeholders, leveraging influence to align cross-functional teams and maximize outcomes. Serve as a key advocate for proposals and initiatives to enhance the Canadian team’s performance and continuous improvement.
A Day in the Life...
- Develop strategies and ensure un-compromised implementation/execution of the annual business plans by achieving the budgeted sales volumes / revenue growth management and profit margin through effective trade spend management.
- Develop and maintain a solid working relationship with Food Service Operators, and lead the Ocean Spray International agenda to achieve the planned KPIs – volume, net sales/margin and strategic NPD projects.
- Every month conduct effective Monthly Business Reviews with the FS broker teams for each of the key operators within the portfolio addressing all KRA’s/KPI’s of the business.
- Along with the FS broker teams, negotiate the annual customer-specific business plans with the key FS Operators, Distributors and implement the activities in line with the Ocean Spray International strategy.
- Define and activate for the FS key operators within the portfolio, the volume and margin growth levers by business segment with a razor focus on trade spend management.
- Establish a collaborative working relationship with all internal cross-functional teams… Marketing, Supply Chain, Global Commercial Operations, Finance & Revenue Management
- Analyze all promotional activities and measure the financial results, and course correction as warranted.
- Lead sales input on monthly Demand Planning meetings, providing insights on new distribution and trends to influence production quantity and timing, to maximize customer fill rates.
- Influence senior management with insights, industry, and competitive trends to secure appropriate support and resources to deliver business plans.
- Accountable for financial management, including trade budgets, consumer budgets, trade deductions, product unsaleable and returns.
- Contract renegotiations & RFP’s
- Provide weekly and monthly sales reports as warranted
What We Are Looking For:
- 10+ years of progressive and related Food Service/Hospitality Account management experience in CPG required, with a proven track record of accomplishments.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian FS market and alternative go-to-market channels
- Highly Analytical, Data-driven, P&L and Numbers savvy. Must have experience using various types of syndicated data. E.g. AC Nielsen, IRI etc.
- Highly effective negotiator, Critical thinker, driven and highly organized.
- Sound communication and active listening skills with advanced presentation skills
- Innovative, solution-oriented mindset
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
