Fortis serves a global customer base and has offices across the world including four R&D sites and cGMP manufacturing in three ISO 13485 certified facilities in North America.

Fortis is currently looking for a Business Development Manager to cover the Antibody Portfolio for the eastern half of North America. This role will act as the primary point of contact for key accounts and new business development accounts supporting Bethyl, Arista and Abcore product portfolios. Responsibility would be to sell catalogue products and custom development services for the life sciences customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts and new business development accounts within the Eastern half of North America.
  • Building new business development opportunities and relationships within the respective territory to expand product sales within the Fortis Antibody portfolio.
  • Responsibility would be to sell catalogue products and custom assay development services for the RUO, IVD, OEM and White-Label customer base.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate customer product and instrument platform need to Fortis technical specialists and R&D team.
  • Examples of the Fortis Antibody portfolio include anti-sera, as well as recombinant, monoclonal, polyclonal, primary, secondary, epitope tagged and single domain antibodies (VHH). Products are produced under RUO or ISO13485 certification.
  • Business development will require the ability to support a “sample evaluation” workflow between customer and internal R&D team.
  • Responsibility will be to communicate direct customer need as a business relationship manager from customer to internal technical teams in order to move projects forward using a structured process with multiple pro-actively scheduled touchpoints.
  • Key accounts and business development activity for new account development will be supported by Sales Leadership Team, as well as an internal technical team at the sites. 
  • Set customer guidelines and expectations on new product sample evaluations timelines to ensure in-quarter forecasting when available.
  • Create customer quotes for direct product and customized orders.
  • Understand unique market needs to build strategic action items that will expand company influence and expand product sales within the Fortis Life Sciences and antibody portfolio.
  • Report sales results and forecasts during funnel and business reviews.
  • Use customer database to research account and sales history that will drive revenue growth in net new customer base and expansion within existing accounts.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Fortis management team, which may not be listed above, that are necessary to accomplish our goal of improving lives by supporting scientific discovery.

Qualifications

  • Biology degree or science-related industry background.
  • Proven track record of 3-5 years of experience in technical sales in the life science industry.
  • Technical sales background with assay development focus in protein related applications is additional preference.
  • Track-record of being self-driven to accomplish sales goals in team setting.
  • Previous CRM experience (Sales Force).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
