About the role:

BSI is looking for a dynamic and motivated Associate Consultant with 3-5 years of experience to join our EHS team at an exciting client site in the vibrant Boston, MA area. Responsibilities:

  • Manage laboratory inspections, documenting unsafe conditions, and collaborating with staff to develop JHAs and identify project-specific risks.
  • Lead incident investigations, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Organize safety meetings with senior management to proactively address hazards and risks.
  • Oversee chemical management, review new chemical approvals, and ensure proper chemical storage, segregation, and compliance.
  • Conduct periodic hazardous chemical inventory reviews for regulatory compliance.
  • Lead lab safety training sessions for new hires and employees needing recertification (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, Safe Start).
  • Lead Large Quantity Generator requirements and develop contingency plans for waste management.
  • Provide consulting on spill response, cleanup, and local reporting to agencies as needed.
  • Implement biosafety, hazard communication, and chemical safety programs.
  • Monitoring of COVID-19 safety measures (population density, social distancing, mask use, cleaning, etc.).
  • Expertise in EHS regulatory compliance, with local experience in Cambridge a plus.
     

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or EHS-related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in lab safety, biosafety, and hazardous materials/waste management (consulting or EHS experience preferred)
  • Experience with risk assessments and accident investigations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in computer applications
  • Professional certifications (CIH, ASP, CSP, CHMM) preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including Fed-OSHA standards, and experience conducting compliance audits

The salary for this position can range from $80,800 to $111,100 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
