The Opportunity: 

The Workflow Consultant demonstrates and positions the end-to-end value of the Roche portfolio of solutions (systems) and Roche Consulting (RC) services to our customers. This field-based position creates value by focusing on designing complex automated laboratory solutions to improve the customer's workflow processes. This position partners with customers and internal stakeholders (Sales, global Roche Consulting teams, Marketing, IT, RSN, Implementation, and other teams) to address customers' unique priorities, challenges, and needs through continuous improvement efforts, including (but not limited to) collecting and reviewing customer feedback, refining methods/tools, performing complex analyses, and recommending solutions. This position focuses on the design, workflow, and simulations to ensure effective and accurate Roche Solutions are contracted and implemented. As a result, this fosters and supports sales opportunities and also positions commercial opportunities for Roche Consulting (RC).

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Pre-Sales Support and Solution Development:

  • Provide pre-sales support to customers and sales teams for developing complex diagnostic solutions.

  • Follow a consistent design process, consolidating all necessary information.

  • Partner with customers and sales to clarify, align, and document expected performance metrics (e.g., TAT, Throughput, Menu consolidation).

Workflow and Implementation:

  • Ensure workflow-related information is complete, accurate, and consolidated for project transition to Implementation.

  • Assist customers with workflow issues related to Roche systems.

  • Communicate short-term and long-term recommendations to improve efficiency, safety, and effectiveness.

Consulting and Best Practices:

  • Consult with customers to improve process performance and solution quality.

  • Survey and analyze best practices for techniques and processes.

  • Deliver consulting services such as Visioning Workshops, Diagnostic Network Optimization, Integrated Facility and Process Design, and Rapid Improvement Methodologies.

Collaboration and Tools Utilization:

  • Collaborate with Roche Consulting colleagues to refine and evolve proprietary tools and techniques.

  • Utilize specific methods and tools like TVO strategy, cobas workflow simulators, and Salesforce.com.

  • Deliver standardized and harmonized practices for consistent national consulting services.

Communication and Feedback:

  • Communicate the value of RC services through written documents, speaking engagements, and marketing materials.

  • Collect and provide feedback to ensure Roche Consulting solutions meet client needs and function according to specifications.

  • Perform administrative duties such as creating and submitting expense reports and status reports, and adhere to regulatory requirements.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Sciences, or closely related scientific/technical discipline.

  • Experience with process mapping, statistical, and reporting tools

  • 5 years of experience in Operations, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory or equivalent, including experience in successfully leading cross-functional teams in driving results

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Able to travel +75% of the time

  • 5+ years of management experience delivering and managing consulting services using Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement analytical tools/processes in a laboratory and/or healthcare setting.

  • Black Belt, Master Black Belt, and/or Champion certification in Lean Six Sigma or other similar, advanced continuous improvement certification

  • 3+ years of commercial experience in a sales, service-oriented, or consulting environment

  • Proficiency using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Middleware; familiarity with Roche Infinity.

  • Strong organization and analytical skills to uncover key technical, operational, and strategic issues.

  • Ability to use analytical methods and applications to support consulting engagement conclusions and recommendations.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to influence customer decision-makers by articulating ideas and influencing others to adopt solutions. This includes the ability to credibly recommend changes to lab practices to improve waste, cost, quality, and turnaround times.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead, manage, and influence people at various organizational levels internally and within the customer site.

  • General understanding of IVD Laboratory Solutions and their workflow/functioning; within the lab and at an institutional level.

  • Familiarity with Roche and/or competitor products.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis is $93,100 - $172,900. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
