Are you a highly skilled Systems Administrator looking for an opportunity to work with mission-critical systems and support national security operations? Peraton is seeking a talented Systems Administrator to join our team, working directly with an Intelligence Community customer in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. What You’ll Do:

As a Systems Administrator at Peraton, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring high system availability, security, and performance for critical infrastructure. This is a customer-facing role where you’ll handle complex technical issues, provide expert troubleshooting, and maintain a secure, optimized environment. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:

  • System Monitoring & Maintenance: Conduct daily system monitoring and perform regular server updates and patching on a monthly basis to ensure systems are secure and operating at peak performance.
  • Rapid Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve system issues swiftly using a ticketing system, and be prepared to provide on-site support during off-hours when needed to address high-priority problems.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement system hardening and security protocols by following Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements, deploying patches, and conducting regular security audits to safeguard the environment.
  • Documentation Excellence: Develop and revise key technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Security Test Procedures (STP), System Install Procedures (SIP), and disaster recovery plans. You’ll ensure all system configurations are clearly documented for ease of understanding.
  • Network & Application Support: Troubleshoot network services such as DNS, DHCP, and VPN, while ensuring the integrity and security of data across systems.
  • Virtualization & Cloud Management: Manage virtualized environments using technologies such as Hyper-V, VMware, AWS, and Azure. Provision and maintain virtual machines to ensure seamless system scalability.
  • Customer Interaction: Engage frequently with government customers, project leads, security officers, and vendors to ensure efficient system operations and address customer needs in real time.

Who You Are:

You’re a problem solver with a strong technical background and a passion for making systems run efficiently and securely. You have a deep understanding of Windows server environments and are familiar with Oracle database environments on both Windows and CentOS. If you enjoy working in fast-paced environments and thrive under pressure, you’ll fit right in. To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Windows Server Expertise: Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Servers (2016, 2019, 2022), along with a solid understanding of server optimization and patch management.
  • Network & Security Skills: Ability to configure and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, and VPN services, along with a deep knowledge of security best practices to protect the environment.
  • Virtualization Experience: Proficiency in managing virtualized environments using Hyper-V, VMware, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
  • System Hardening Knowledge: Experience with implementing STIG guidelines, performing system hardening, and securing environments through regular patching and audits.
  • Documentation & Communication: Strong ability to create and revise technical documentation and effectively communicate complex system configurations.
  • Disaster Recovery: Experience developing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery plans, including testing and documenting recovery procedures.
  • Technical Support: A proactive approach to resolving hardware and software issues, ensuring that end users experience minimal disruption.

Qualifications






 

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI w/ poly OR SCI ebigibility required and ability to successfully pass a polygraph.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree that is applicable to the positions and at least 8 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum 5 years of experience with systems administration, at least 3 of which must be Windows Admin.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2016 or later, Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, and system monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of system hardening and security through the implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Patching.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS) Cloud experience
  • Experience with VMWare
  • Active Security+ (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Level II)


Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of network protocols, firewall configurations, and security best practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with Business objects and ETL jobs
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Microsoft certifications like MCSA, MCSE, or Azure certifications are a plus
  • QL Server 2016, Oracle 19C DBA experience skills.
