What will you do?

The Director, HR Business Partner, reports to the Sr. Director, HRBP.  The primary responsibility of this role is to partner with senior leaders of assigned client groups to advise on strategic plans and objectives for their departments. Through this relationship, the HR Partner, is responsible for determining strategies and programs that are focused on identifying and developing critical business capabilities, skills, and platforms to enable associates career growth and effectiveness, while aligning to the global talent strategy.

  • Builds trust and partnerships with senior business leaders, HR COE’s, HRBPs, People Services and other HRP’s in the brands/regions to ensure alignment across teams and within the business to help support and execute key business priorities.
  • Advise on workforce planning strategies with your leaders including org design and restructurings, job descriptions development, and compensation planning. Monitor workforce analytics/trends, diagnose root cause or issues, and help identify performance gaps within teams.
  • Lead client groups in all annual people processes such as annual compensation planning, talent reviews, succession planning, culture surveys, and performance, while incorporating their people strategy into department strategies.
  • Lead client group/department-specific projects, boards, cost saving initiatives, and reinventing programs from an HR lens. Challenge and guide leaders to have an impact in their culture, engagement, individual teams, and department impacts.
  • Leverage talent discussions and succession plan programs and partner with Business Leaders to develop high potential employees. Partner with TA to secure external pipelines for department critical roles, and ensure a talent plan is in place.
  • Advise leadership on VF Standard Operating Procedures to ensure fair and equitable application for all VF associates.  Partner with employment counsel as well as labor and employee relations to advise management regarding employment policies and practices to ensure actions are compliant with legal requirements in each state.  Partner with local HR to do the same globally.
  • Actively engage in the recruitment process to help identify top talent and assist in filling gaps in competencies that are needed to better fulfill role responsibilities.
  • Partner with HRBP’s in the other regions to share and align on global talent within the function.

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 10+ years of experience and professional achievements and 4 years in HR leadership preferred. 

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Experience in general human resources management. Ideal background will include understanding and/or experience in management, talent development, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, and applicable federal and state regulations
  • Experience partnering with Digital, IT, Finance and other Enterprise and Technical functions
  • Understand US Policies and Procedures
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail, as well as the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner
  • Sound judgment, business acumen, influencing skills, and the experience, confidence and stature to effectively address sensitive HR issues
  • Ability to deliver group presentations to all levels of associates in the company
  • Ability to network and influence people at all levels
  • Strong listening skills
  • Strong team building skills and the ability to connect people to solutions/others
  • Strong insight into business needs and ability to resolve complex problems
  • Employee relations skills
  • Proficiency in HR systems and other office tools like Workday

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

  • Advanced degree and/or certification (PHR, SPHR)
  • Background working within a matrixed organization
     

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Some travel required, up to 15%

Hiring Range:

$142,560.00 USD - $178,200.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
