ABOUT THIS POSITON
Location: Hybrid 2-3 days in office per week in Alpharetta, GA or Houston, TX.
Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will be a business partner to the Services Finance team to ensure each project’s financial performance adheres to US GAAP standards by reviewing the revenue calculation, variable considerations, and costs. This role will also ensure that balance sheet accounts are stated completely and accurately and identify areas for improvement or potential risks. This role reports to the Regional Controller.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Close Support: Prepare and review revenue recognition files to ensure accuracy and compliance during the month-end closing process.
Accounting Guidance: Provide timely accounting, reporting, and system guidance to support the Services business through operational changes and strategic projects.
Warranty Analysis: Calculate and maintain the monthly Assurance Warranty analysis, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to accounting standards.
Project Cost Accounting: Collaborate with the Services Finance team to ensure proper accounting for project costs, facilitating effective budgeting and forecasting.
Transaction Recording: Ensure accurate and timely recording of business transactions in the ERP system, promoting adherence to best practices and accounting standards.
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger and oversee related general accounting processes and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
SOX Compliance: Ensure SOX controls are executed timely and accurately, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting function.
What does the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?
- At least 5 years of services/project accounting experience within an industrial product organization.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition methodologies under ASC 606; knowledge of Long-Term Service Agreements is a plus.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting processes and revenue calculation is essential.
- Experience with percentage of completion and straight-line revenue accounting.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s accounting policies and adherence to the latest GAAP standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven critical thinking abilities and self-motivation.
- Capable of managing multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter who can collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive change.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to automate tasks.
