Job Description

Job Title: Restaurant General Manager  

Department: F&B  

Inspired and Supported by: Director of Food & Beverage 

 

Your purpose will be: The Savoy is recruiting for a Restaurant General Manager to oversee and direct the front of house team of the outlet. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Chefs to manage restaurant operations, ensuring that the high standards required by both the hotel and guests are exceeded. As a hands-on, experienced hospitality professional, you will combine the business acumen necessary for running a successful operation with the personality to be the face of the restaurant. 

 

You will be accountable for: 

  • Leading and directing all aspects of restaurant operations, taking full responsibility for the front of house. 

  • Demonstrating authoritative leadership with the gravitas to oversee all restaurant functions. 

  • Bringing a wealth of experience across different outlets, driving and motivating staff to provide guests with the ultimate dining experience. 

  • Multitasking and organizing with excellence, ensuring smooth operations and outstanding communication. 

  • Being commercially astute with an understanding of financial requirements to successfully reopen an outlet. 

  • Developing the team to consistently deliver 5-star service. 

  • Having a clear vision and inspiring the team to execute this vision on a day-to-day basis by leading from the front. 

Qualifications

What you will need to do in this role? 

  • Restaurant Management Experience: Bring 5-10 years of experience managing dining venues, with a preference for candidates who have experience with pre-openings or re-openings. 

  • Food and Beverage Expertise: Possess exceptional knowledge of food and beverage, including current and future trends. 

  • Leadership: Be a passionate leader who strives to deliver excellence daily and manage a team of 30+ people. 

  • Wine Knowledge: Have strong wine knowledge, ideally with WSET Level 3 certification or similar. 

  • Analytical Mindset: Utilize an analytical mindset for data-driven decision-making and demonstrate proven financial acumen, including long-term strategy planning and budgeting. 

  • Financial Responsibility: Take full financial responsibility for the outlet/restaurant. 

  • Entrepreneurial Approach: Identify new opportunities to drive revenue growth and profitability with an entrepreneurial approach. 

  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Maintain full knowledge and understanding of current health and safety policies.
