The Payroll Compliance Specialist ensures that payroll processes adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, specifically California. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate payroll records, auditing payroll submissions, and ensuring the effective resolution of payroll discrepancies. The Payroll Compliance Specialist works closely with the payroll and HR teams to ensure that all payments are compliant with labor laws, tax laws, and organizational policies.

What Will You Do?






      • Payroll Audits: Conduct regular audits of payroll data, timekeeping systems, and employee records to ensure compliance with all relevant labor and tax laws.

      • Data Entry & Maintenance: Accurately enter and maintain payroll data, including new hires, terminations, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related adjustments.

      • Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll laws, ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations, tax requirements, and garnishments.

      • Reporting: Generate reports for internal stakeholders and government agencies, including payroll summaries, tax filings, and compliance reports.

      • Payroll Issue Resolution: Identify and assist with resolving payroll discrepancies, including underpayments, overpayments, and non compliance to policy with employees.

      • Documentation & Filing: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll documentation and ensure that payroll records are properly filed for audit purposes




    What You Bring:



    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.

    • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related role. Experience with payroll compliance or auditing preferred.

    • Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations, including wage and hour laws, tax laws, and garnishment rules.

    • Skills:

    • Certifications: Payroll certification (CPP or FPC) preferred but not required.
