Our company

Meadow Memorials is a contemporary funeral home offering simple cremations, personalized memorials, and transparent pricing. We make things easier for grieving families in their time of need. Most of us are not prepared for losing a loved one, and the existing funeral offerings are often outdated and hard to navigate.

We are partnering with the city’s best venues to provide a new level of service. We pride ourselves on great customer care, unreasonable hospitality, and transparent pricing - and we have grateful families as a result.

Operations Manager / Startup Generalist

We’re looking for an Operations Generalist who wants to own and build in a startup context. This is an opportunity to develop and refine processes that will be a foundation for the company as it scales.

This is a hybrid role, and must be based in Los Angeles metro area.

As our first Operations Manager you will play a key role in developing essential processes of our in-market operations, piece by piece. To start, your main responsibility will be coordinating, packaging, and delivering urns with the utmost care and respect. This role ensures families receive these sacred items in a timely and respectful manner. You will insource this process from inventory to delivery while interacting with families to meet their unique needs.

This is an in-person role in Los Angeles that requires travel between locations to receive, inventory, and deliver urns. We provide mileage reimbursement.

If you excel in hospitality and running a service operation, thrive with autonomy and want to be at a high-pace high-quality startup, this role can lead to multiple career paths at Meadow. We are in a growth phase, and this role offers significant opportunities for advancement as we grow.

Our objectives for the role

Above all: Build a working on-the-ground operation, prototype the best process, then optimize and find the right solution to scale. Find and implement process improvements to optimize speed, respect, and care in all interactions.

Focus to start:

  • Urn Packaging & Delivery Coordination:

    • Prepare, package, and deliver urns with utmost care, ensuring they are ready for delivery or pickup.

    • Coordinate deliveries via USPS or hand-deliver urns where appropriate.

    • Meet families in person for urn pickups, offering support and guidance during these sensitive moments.

  • Inventory Management:

    • Maintain and organize the inventory of urns, ensuring both standard and custom orders are available as needed.

    • Manage incoming shipments of premium or family-provided urns, ensuring they align with each family’s preferences.

  • Viewing Coordination: (If applicable)

    • Assist in coordinating ID viewings, ensuring proper arrangements are made to meet family expectations.

We’re looking for:

  • Problem-Solver: You proactively improve processes, with a focus on customer care and logistical efficiency.

  • Empathetic and Customer-Focused: You approach each family interaction with compassion, clarity, and respect. You understand that every interaction is a chance to earn trust.

  • Independent and Organized: You handle your time and tasks without needing oversight. You stay on top of inventory, deliveries, and coordination, making sure everything runs smoothly.

  • Want a startup: You thrive in a startup environment, ready to adjust as things evolve. You don’t just handle change—you lean into it.

  • Growth-Oriented: You’re excited to be part of Meadow’s future and willing to take on more responsibility, whether that means mentoring new team members or tackling bigger projects.

  • Experience: 5+ years in customer service, hospitality, or operations—experience in roles where empathy and logistical skill mattered is ideal, e.g.:

    • Delivery coordination, marketplace operations, hospitality (hotel, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.)

    • Startup or professional service backgrounds are a plus.

Why Join us?

  • Above all, we’re in this to support families in one of the most difficult times. If we succeed, dealing with the loss of a loved one will become less painful, leaving more space to celebrate their life than mourn their death. If that speaks to you, speak to us.

  • Set a New Standard: Be part of redefining what service means in a deeply meaningful industry. At Meadow, every team member helps create a more compassionate, transparent approach to end-of-life care.

  • Grow as an early team member in a successful startup. A role like this molds to its owner, but inevitably stretches and grows you as well.
