Civils contractor working on utility projects in London requires an Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of civils / streetworks, such as excavation and reinstatement.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the management of all works related to civil engineering, for example streetworks and laying of pipes and cables

  • Manage a team of Project Managers

  • Visit site to ensure the smooth running and successful delivery of projects

  • Promote culture of health and safety

  • Ensure compliance with regulations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as clients, contractors, suppliers, local authorities and regulatory bodies

  • Liaise with councils and Highways Agency

  • Monitor project progress against contractual obligations and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks or resolve issues

  • Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, procurement, finance, and legal departments to ensure smooth project execution

  • Provide guidance on contractual matters to project teams and assist in resolving any disputes or claims that may arise during project implementation

  • Conduct regular contract reviews to identify areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities

  • Carry out appraisals of team members

Experience:


  • Background as an Operations Manager, responsible for delivery of civils, in the utilities sector

  • Strong knowledge and experience of streetworks / NRSWA
