Valmet is going full speed ahead with its business process transformation project, Leap Forward. This transformation program is rolling out new ERP and key processes covering every part of Valmet’s business.

We are now looking for a Valmet Logistics System (VLS) and MOVE Area Key User to join and strengthen our logistical operations in Valmet North America (NA). MOVE is the acronym for Valmet’s own Transportation Management System. The purpose of this role is to improve logistical profitability and reliability in NA area and support business growth by maintaining our VLS and internally developed MOVE systems and by driving improvement in logistical solution, digitalization, and automation. In this key role, you will collaborate closely with the carriers, external suppliers, IT service management and support, Valmet Business Lines in the Area, and VLS and MOVE management teams. You are responsible for the management and maintenance of the VLS and MOVE systems in the NA and support business for all VLS and MOVE related matters.

In this role you will report to Area Program Manager, NA Leap Forward. After Implementation phase is completed, then reporting to Director, Global Logistics North America.

Responsibilities

The Leap Forward program covers every part of Valmet’s NA business. On this type of project there is constant change, tight deadlines, roadblocks, setbacks, and many challenges. But the sense of achievement as each phase of the project is rolled out and the transformation succeeds will be motivating as you watch your efforts change the business.

To succeed in this position, we expect you to have the following:

  • User Training & Support: Provide training and assistance for both internal and external users of the VLS and MOVE systems.
  • Information Liaison: Act as the communication link between global and area teams.
  • Key User Network Management: Oversee the key user network within the NA Area.
  • System Set-Up: Manage system configurations for users.
  • System Integration & Testing: Support system integration with other platforms and test new features.
  • Freight Process Management, invoicing & claim support: Streamline and manage the freight tender-to-pay process through the MOVE system. Support: Assist with resolving freight invoicing issues and claims.
  • Contract & Pricing Support: Aid the Area Category Manager with contract and pricing setups in MOVE.
  • Reporting & KPI Data: Provide reporting and KPI data when needed.
  • Data Accuracy & Availability: Ensure data and agreed terms are accessible and accurate in the system.

Your responsibilities will also require you to support and encourage system development, automation, and digitalization. You will also represent NA area in the global VLS and MOVE implementation team. After implementation, divide time equally between operational logistics tasks and VLS/MOVE improvements.

The position can be based in Key Valmet location in the U.S.

  • Education & experience: University or college degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent of a relevant field Combined with 3+ years solid experience in Supply Chain, Logistics industry, Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Industry & Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics, and Transportation Management Systems. Knowledge of North American truckload, less-than-truckload shipping (LTL), courier markets, and tendering processes is a plus.
  • System Integration & Logistical Solutions: Familiar with integration to other systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions and experience in developing logistical solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communications: The incumbent will need strong skills in managing stakeholders within a complex matrix organization while being results-driven, with strong presentation and communication skills. Fluent in English; Spanish and French are a plus.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office (intermediate, with strong Excel) with previous exposure to multiple applications/ERP. Data analysis and visualization will be considered as an asset.
  • Travel requirements: Able to travel 15%-20% for on-site events and rollout phases in North America (United-States, Canada and Mexico).
