About the role


The Model Risk Manager will sit within Monument Re’s Group Risk function and will lead on the 2nd line oversight of models and data used within Monument Re including those developed and owned by the Finance and Actuarial team to ensure these are fit for purpose and aligned with regulatory expectations. This role can be based in our London or Dublin office.



Responsibilities


  • Responsible for providing second line oversight and assurance of models and data used within the organisation including carrying out targeted risk reviews across specific elements of Monument’s model suite.
  • Responsible for the second line validation of Monument Re’s key models including coordination of a regular cycle of validation in-line with internal and regulatory expectations.
  • Responsible for providing an annual second line review of the BSCR process and output including coordination of annual review of assumptions and expert judgements. 
  • Provide insight and assurance to the Group Chief Risk Officer in relation to appropriateness of the various models including those used for financial reporting, pricing, business planning and regular monitoring.
  • Coordinate with entity-level risk functions to ensure a consistent level of validation and assurance is provided in relation to models used across the wider Monument Re group.
  • Provide oversight and input of risk management over key projects and change management activities.
  • Work with other members of the Group Risk Function in the daily management and development of risk management strategies and activities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within Monument Re legal entities. Manage and support the successful operation of Risk and Oversight alongside other members of the Group Risk Function.




Role Requirements


  • Strong technical understanding of financial modelling including complex methodologies, assumptions and results under BMA regulations and/or Solvency II;
  • Qualified actuary, with at least 5 years post-qualified experience;
  • Ability to distil information and apply judgement;
  • Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
