What we need:

Oak Valley Health is seeking a results oriented professional to lead our compensation, benefits, HR Operations and HRIS functions. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety, your goal is to manage the day-to-day operational human resources needs of the organization through effective critical thinking, relationship-building and communication with both hospital partners and department staff. You will approach issues and challenges in a creative and collaborative manner. You are highly organized, able to succeed in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to engage with new challenges every day.   

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the operational delivery and deployment of HR processes and service
  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members on compensation, benefits, HR operations and HRIS functions while ensuring services and work are performed in compliance with collective agreements, policies and procedures
  • Build an effective, productive and accountable team while ensuring service delivery excellence
  • Develop talent through positive coaching and mentoring approaches
  • Compile and analyze HR metrics
  • Apply quantitative measures to evaluate outcomes, program efficacy and process improvements
  • Oversee processes and policies that impact various HR systems and other applications
  • Collaborate with hospital partners to review, design and implement policies to help support and sustain HR best practices
  • Oversee and coordinate employee records and workforce reporting, including monthly workforce dashboards; develop strategies to work towards achieving workforce targets related to recruitment, performance reviews and turnover
  • Support the implementation of an electronic staff scheduling system by coaching and managing HR aspects of the implementation by creating policy and standards around rules, practice and security
  • Influence and build consensus with hospital leaders, including senior management, to effectively integrate HR programs and services
  • Lead or participate in projects/corporate culture initiatives associated with the Hospital’s People Plan
  • Support organizational change through strategic thinking and organizational behaviour/change management principles
  • Regularly engage with managers and stakeholders to identify best practices and continuous improvement opportunities, driving operational excellence.

What you bring to the role:

  • Previous experience leading Human Resources Operations required
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations or a related discipline;
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (C.H.R.L) designation preferred
  • Post-graduate certificate in human resources management and/or an equivalent combination of education and progressive HR experience
  • Hospital or health services experience is advantageous
  • Experience using Workday is a plus
  • Previous experience managing or leading a team, including coaching, mentoring and team-building
  • Expertise in operational human resource management. Includes management of HR data, HRIS, compensation, benefits and HR operations
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreement language and practices in a unionized environment or public sector/broader public sector organization
  • Previous experience improving process and workflow that deliver an extraordinary employee experience
  • Excellent communication, coaching and collaboration skills
  • Experience in policy and program development
  • Effective consultation skills to foster collaborative working relationships among management, HRBPs, staff, organizational units, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and co-ordinate various activities and manage competing priorities and balance multiple, disparate tasks
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
