The Role
Purpose of the role
The role entails two core focus areas:
1. Risk Management in Project Delivery - enhancing the delivery of the most complex and interesting projects in the world through the power of risk management. You will be a senior leader in our engagements with clients, working within multi-disciplinary teams.
2. Risk Management in Business Operations - working as a subject matter expert alongside our leadership team with the aim of developing and implementing exceptional standards to better enable our business operations and those of our clients
Team
This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy which focuses on:
- Understanding what the real problems of projects are
- Implementing the best solutions to those problems
- Developing scalable best practices, tools and technology

Your responsibilities
On Engagements
- Develop & implement risk management solutions: our clients will depend on your expert advice to make improvements to their risk management processes and systems. This includes designing and implementing solutions that gain adoption from project teams.
- Act as Risk Manager in Projects: our clients will need you to be the responsible person for risk management and risk control in the project environment. Taking the lead in preparing, chairing and guiding others through workshops. Supporting P3M decisions through the lens of risk management. Taking ownership of critical P3M documents to capture and articulate information clearly.
On improving our organisation
- Own the development of Laminar’s risk management approach: Continuously improve the approach we take to deliver Risk Management solutions by developing standards, methods, tools and people.
- Professional Accreditation and Standards: When you join our team, you will be responsible for pushing Laminar to new heights within the industry including active involvement with professional institutions and benchmarking against recognised standards.
General
- Own the outcome: You may not be the project manager ultimately responsible for the results but you are sure as heck responsible for putting in your best effort to ensure the project’s understanding and focus on the plan no matter how stubborn they are!
- Report and inform: Provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that help them deliver their part of the project more efficiently and effectively
- Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable and repeatable best practices and tools in collaboration with the team so that long-term impact is achieved
- Develop everyone: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally and educate our clients to improve as well. (even if you are junior you can help your leader develop too!)
Your Capabilities
You are a seasoned Risk Manager with the powers to transform any project or organisation you touch.
As a candidate, you should have:
Must-Have (The fundamentals)
- Experience in managing risk at a portfolio level (across multiple projects) within a P3M environment in the construction industry
- Expert user of risk management systems (such as Acumen, OPC, Safran, Active Risk Manager, Safran Risk)
- Confidence and demonstrable experience in chairing in-person risk workshops (including QSRA, and QCRA) with a range of project stakeholders including design, construction, commercial, and management teams.
- Previous experience of implementation and maintenance of risk management systems
- Developer of processes, procedures and reports which take into account enterprise objectives, best-practice and the context you are operating in.
- Master of effective communication from the site to the boardroom using charisma, influence and presence to get business and construction people to do new things and take the best approach
- A proven leader/coach/developer of people and teams
- Ability to critically assess information and challenge accordingly to enhance the robustness of risk management
Nice to Have (If you don’t have it now you will be trained intensively after joining)
- Involvement in academic/industry standards in risk management
- Impacts that have gone beyond a single project and improved organisations as a whole.
- You interpret requirements, manage expectations and deliver outcomes for multiple stakeholder groups.
- Decent Excel skills and a strong interest in data and how it can be best harnessed
- Experience in other project control disciplines such as scheduling and cost control
- Appreciation for contractual sensitivities and
