What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Function Compliance, the Corporate Function Compliance Officer is responsible for executing oversight activities and function as a subject matter expert for specific regulatory requirements under their purview. The CFC Officer will work closely with assigned business units or functional groups to conduct compliance risk assessments of regulatory requirements, assess Regulatory Developments, manage compliance deficiencies, and manage the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Library (including controls).  The ideal candidate will act as a key liaison between the assigned business units and the Regulatory Compliance Management program, promoting regulatory adherence to effectively manage regulatory compliance risk.

How you’ll succeed

  • Regulatory Analysis – Stay abreast of changes in relevant laws, regulations and industry standards applicable to financial institutions, analyze the impact of regulatory changes on the organization and translate requirements in plain language to support assigned business units in their efforts to manage regulatory compliance risk.
  • Risk Analysis – Perform risk assessment of new regulatory requirements and provide inputs on regulatory compliance risks posed by changing business activities in accordance with current CIBC risk methodology.
  • Deficiency Management – Proactively manage the identification, remediation and reporting of regulatory compliance deficiencies and control testing gaps within assigned business and functional units. 
  • Collaboration – Provide compliance advisory services to business units within the team’s purview to ensure processes and mitigations are in place to address regulatory compliance risk within CIBC’s risk appetite and in accordance with regulatory requirements and regulator expectations under their purview.
  • Relationship Building Develop and maintain relationships with Oversight Functions, Line of Business leaders, 2nd and 3rd line of defense (LOD) groups to ensure effective oversight processes are in place to effectively reduce the Bank’s exposure to regulatory compliance risk within acceptable levels.

 

Who you are

  • You have extensive work experience in regulatory compliance risk management with a strong ability to analyze and interpret impacts of regulatory requirements in a financial institution spanning across multiple business lines and functional groups.
  • You can demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in the application of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) methodology from regulatory change identification, risk assessment and compliance reporting.
  • You can execute compliance oversight activities on assigned portfolios and provide advisory and support to a defined group of Business Units on RCM program elements to ensure the effective management of regulatory compliance risk.
  • You can demonstrate knowledge of Internal Control Framework, Risk Framework and regulatory environments applicable to financial institutions.
