Controller


Expanding steel manufacturing business is looking for an experienced financial controller. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and experience with risk management. You should possess the skills of an accountant, including expert and accurate reporting and analysis.  Proficiency in detail-oriented auditing, confidentiality and ethical behavior, organization, time-management, and communication are required.


The company will grow organically and there will be subsequent acquisitions in the same sector. It is required to have experience in manufacturing and possess the competencies to undertake and help lead process improvements across the company, the position reports directly to the CEO.


Previous experience with enterprise level companies is highly considered and desirable. In addition to all the financial, regulatory, and reporting requirements. The controller shall have experience of acting in the capacity of a production and cost controller. It will be required to oversee, assist, and monitor the production of products including purchasing, scheduling; as well as material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations. It will require creating new tools, systems, or tools to improve overall business performance.


The prompt evaluation and implementation of a new ERP system along with other cloud-based software to manage the business from the back end to the front, will be an important first task. The minimum requirements will include a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field and several years of manufacturing industry experience. It will be required to have excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Finally, your style of management needs to be inclusive and as a key functional leader contributing a culture of engagement, inclusiveness, and innovation, helping to lead a culture that wins.



Controller Financial Responsibilities

·        Developing internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for budget accounting, cash and credit management, administration, and other activities.

·        Coordinating and directing budgeting, procurement, investment activities, and financial planning.

·        Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.

·        Establishing and maintaining financial controls, preparing, and presenting financial reports and risk analysis.

·        Creating budgets and forecasts and being responsible for company general ledger

·        Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

·        Providing support to management, particularly in commercial and financial matters.

·        Creating reports that help senior leadership understand company financials.

 

Controller Production Responsibilities

·        Oversee the purchasing function.

·        Assists the production team to ensure delivery of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

·        Reviews processes that ensure appropriate production rate and continued improvement.

·        Collaborates with the customer service and sales departments enhancing service and margins.

·        Assist in identifying any bottlenecks or delays in production; ensures necessary labor, materials, and other resources are available to relieve production bottlenecks and delays.

·        Review production planning and scheduling contribute to improving output.

·        Ensures production machinery complies with professional and safety standards.

·        Manage the creation of maintenance schedules used in production process to avoid downtime or delays.


Controller Other Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.

·        Proven work experience in accounting or a related field.

·        Understanding of applicable laws and regulations.

·        Understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and banking.

·        Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.

·        Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.

·        Previous experience with ERP implementation and cloud-based software systems for key company processes

·        Excel expert experience with CRM’s
