Job Description Summary
Power Forward Communities, a coalition of some of the country’s most trusted housing, climate, and community investment groups, was today officially awarded a $2 billion, seven-year National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF) grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). With funds expected to start flowing into homes in early 2025, the grant will make possible the affordable decarbonization of homes and apartments throughout the country, with a particular focus on low-income and disadvantaged communities.
The Controller will coordinate the financial operations of the Enterprise Green Accelerator entity which is part of the Solutions Finance Department. This position is responsible for the daily accounting operations, monthly and annual financial close processes, issuing monthly operating statements, and the annual budget and re-forecast process for the Enterprise Green Accelerator organization. Further, this position is responsible for completing monthly billing activities, supporting the annual single audit process and for preparing the negotiated indirect cost rate (NICRA) package, to ensure compliance with federal funding regulations. The successful candidate should possess progressive accounting experience in a non-profit/government contracting environment and be a proven supervisor. The Controller will be an enthusiastic, effective member of the Finance team. This position requires excellent organizational, analytical, automation, communication, and prioritization skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Support the Enterprise Green Accelerator business by providing financial information and analysis to support decision-making, prioritization, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate the monthly close process including billing, bank and account reconciliations, operating statements, and monthly variance analysis for operational departments and projects.
- Prepare and develop internal cost allocations between departments, including development and management of negotiated indirect rates filed in accordance with OMB Uniform Guidance.
- Prepare funder reporting and serve as finance point of contact to handle all financial aspects related to the federal grant.
- Responsible for understanding grant agreement, assessing proper accounting treatment and compliance requirements.
- Interact with Enterprise staff and external auditors to review and provide accurate and timely financial information.
- Responsible for annual budget process, create and maintain budget templates, coordinate with all departments, support budget consolidation and analysis and support re-forecast process.
- Assist VP, Solutions Finance with request for proposal (RPF) process to obtain Single Audit and tax services for the Enterprise Green Accelerator entity
- Support the preparation of annual tax return Form 990 in conjunction with internal preparer.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting is required, CPA is preferred.
- 8-10 years accounting experience required, public accounting, government contracting/non-profit experience preferred.
- 2-4 years supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, OMB Uniform Guidance and NICRA experience strongly preferred.
- Strong automation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft products and accounting applications, expertise with Workday and Salesforce a plus.
- Must be highly motivated and be able to work independently and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess strong financial, analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills, and ability to coordinate complex activities, prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
- Able to work effectively both independently and in team environments.
This position is hybrid from our Columbia, MD corporate office.

The base salary for this role is $ 125,000 to $ 145,000, depending on level of skills and experience.
The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the amount to be paid for the position.
