The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) is currently recruiting for a Compliance Officer (DOT Executive Assistant I) position in Anne Arundel County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. Nature of Work:  This position functions at the advanced level of Equal Opportunity Program Management ensuring compliance with numerous equal opportunity programs and providing guidance to others throughout the agency.  The position works independently and is responsible for managing a large caseload of contracts from inception to contract closeout monitoring for compliance, accuracy and progress.  This advanced/lead position is differentiated from the full performance leveling that the advanced lead carries a larger case load of contracts, works more independently and provides guidance to lower-level staff and district positions.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:
 
 Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
 
 Experience:  
Four (4) years of experience conducting and evaluating a business and/or public entity for compliance or ensuring adherence to fair practice standards and monitoring contracts for compliance with federal, state, or municipal laws and regulations.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following: 
 
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills 
  • Good organizational skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
Notes: 

 1.  Additional experience directly related to protected groups in the areas of compliance with civil rights statutes or community and human relations; or monitoring contracts and investigating regulated activities to ensure compliance may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required four-year degree.

2. Thirty graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.


Licenses & Certifications


Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the state of Maryland.
