Amalgamated Bank is seeking a Compliance Officer to assist the Consumer Compliance Officers to ensure the Bank’s loan, deposit products and services maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as all Bank compliance-related policies and procedures. Organize and execute day-to-day operational Consumer Compliance and Risk Management activities relative to the business line.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Performs monitoring/testing to ensure existing and proposed deposit and lending-related business practices, policies, procedures, software systems, documents and disclosures comply with federal and state regulations. 
  2. Subject matter expertise relative to lending, deposit, and loan servicing regulations.
  3. Collaborate with Chief Compliance Officer in executing the Bank’s Compliance Management System.
  4. Assist Lending and Deposit Compliance Officers working with business units to analyze compliance risks associated with new and existing consumer, small-business, and commercial lending and deposit products and services.
  5. Reviews deposit and lending-related advertisements for compliance with regulatory requirements.  Also, reviews all loan and deposit disclosures and forms.
  6. Performs quarterly scrubs of the Bank’s Home Mortgage Disclosure Act - Loan Application Register (HMDA -LAR) data.
  7. Responsible for reviewing and revising policies, procedures, and processes in response to regulatory requirements.
  8. Update and maintain the Outstanding Issues Tracking Log after each monitoring review, and work with appropriate departments to ensure proper corrective action.
  9. Work with other Compliance Officers with ongoing lending-and deposit-related Compliance, fair lending monitoring and risk assessments.
  10. Work with internal and external auditors and examiners for the successful completion of compliance audits and regulatory exams.
  11. Perform research on regulatory issues that is thorough, accurate and timely. develop reporting on the results of the research for action plans to be developed.
  12. Work with business units to perform analysis of compliance risks associated with new and existing consumer and small-business products and services. 
  13. Conducts compliance monitoring/testing reviews and risk assessments of key regulations as per the plan; evaluates the effectiveness of internal policy, procedures, and processes.
  14. Tracks and monitors the remediation of problems identified in compliance monitoring reviews and regulatory examinations.
  15. Participate in internal bank projects and provides assistance as needed.
  16. Perform other duties as directed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Three or more years of Compliance experience.
  3. Knowledge of the banking industry, the regulatory process and policy issues.
  4. Works independently, prioritizes assignments and organizes concurrent responsibilities.
  5. Strong ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment. 
  6. Strong project management, analytical and organizational skills.
  7. Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  8. Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Strong technical skills including Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.



Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $80,000.00 – $90,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
