Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance ANZ, this position plays a key role in ensuring the effective management of compliance risk at Assurant and contributes to the ongoing uplift of the Compliance function.

As the Compliance Officer - Australia, you will work with the Head of Compliance ANZ and broader Compliance team to design, implement, embed and monitor Assurantโ€™s approach to compliance risk management and provide recommendations, support and solutions to meet compliance requirements and business needs.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing, implementing and embedding best practice compliance frameworks, policies, processes and procedures across the Australian business,
  • Designing and providing compliance training to our internal employees as well as developing compliance training for our external partners across Australia, where needed,
  • Co-ordinating and overseeing issue, incident and breach management process, including identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize the process
  • Co-ordinating the breach assessment and reporting process with relevant business stakeholders as required
  • Maintaining effective and accurate compliance records and registers to meet legislative, regulatory and Code requirements
  • Undertaking compliance assurance activities, including monitoring and supervision activities of all Australian external partners, on the effectiveness of compliance risk management at Assurant

Does this sound like you?

  • 3-5 years minimum experience in a Line 2 Compliance role or similar function

  • 3+ years insurance and/or financial services compliance experience (General Insurance strongly preferred

  • 3+ years legal experience (advantageous but not required)

  • Tertiary qualification or Certificate/Diploma in Insurance, Finance, Law or Compliance and Risk Management (strongly desired)

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the regulatory compliance landscape (APRA and ASIC supervisory requirements, APRA Prudential Standards, ASIC Regulatory Guides, Corporations Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Privacy and the General Code of Practice)

  • Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to tailor advice to different levels and different audiences

  • Proven ability building strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders across a business
