Business Development Manager for Energy market

Now, we’re looking for a talented Business Development Manager dedicated to Energy market in the Smart & Reliable Systems (SRS) division. As a company we have built a solid reputation for delivering high quality and premium value to our customers. The ideal candidate for this role will be a practical, disciplined, and organized individual, able to work independently and efficiently on his/her own leads and accounts, with a primary focus on the UK and DACH geography. You will develop compelling business proposals to address unique industry challenges which will then be presented to prospective clients. As a part of the role and responsibilities, this person will be expected to play a constructive part in the wider SRS division’s Business Development tactical and strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining a detailed knowledge of the marketplace with special attention to key accounts, attending relevant networking, events and activities which result in lead generation and sales;
  • Grooming close relationships with key stakeholders in key business accounts in the Energy market - specially focused on Europe region;
  • Generating sales from existing (and new) customers and accounts through: Researching and identifying new contacts and leads; Developing business development plans and market propositions; Networking and utilising social media e.g. LinkedIn; Attending virtual and physical events to create leads and opportunities.
  • Following up new business opportunities and leads, developing strong, new relationships, producing compelling propositions and closing deals;
  • Planning, preparing and giving presentations and capability demonstrations;
  • Developing a strategy to define which steps to pursue in order to increase business pipeline in the European market.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years experience in business development of customised services and solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in the Energy or Smart Infrastructures is highly desirable
  • Understanding or interested in mission critical systems and software development
  • Strategic account management experience, with an ability to understand and develop deals from a financial perspective
  • Contract management experience and negotiating skills
  • Consultative style, keen and comfortable in developing relationships and networking independently, whilst also able to help peers in their team
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the ability to clearly formulate and present technical requirements
  • Commitment to embark upon regular EU travel and occasional wider travel outside EU

Location and Hybrid Working

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to work from our Southampton office three days a week. We believe that being together fosters collaboration and strengthens teamwork.
