What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?

Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Business Development Manager Position

As a Business Development Manager, you will create, develop, and implement business opportunities, which meet the needs of our customers and enhance the value of Colonial. This position will assist in the development and implementation of Colonial's corporate business strategy. The Business Development Manager will develop and implement strategy-supporting initiatives, which successfully optimize or improve existing company assets, capabilities and services or introduce profitable new business ventures and service offerings.

What You Get to Do:

  • Develop and implement business opportunities that optimize or improve existing pipeline, tankage and associated assets, capabilities, or services.
  • Develop and implement business opportunities which successfully introduce new business ventures or service offerings aligned with Colonial’s business strategy.
  • Evaluate the economic and strategic viability of business opportunities.
  • Negotiate business proposals and contracts with third parties that will result in the expansion of company business offerings.
  • Prepare and present business proposals to internal (including Colonial Leadership members) and external stakeholders (including the Colonial Board of Directors and customers) which will result in an expansion of company product or service offerings.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to support Colonial business offerings by engaging in activities that highlight Colonial's business agenda through customer and industry contact.
  • Act as the customer's advocate within the Colonial organization.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
  • Ideally, 5+ years of experience in the Oil & Energy field and/or Petroleum Logistics.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Broad understanding of the Oil & Energy field and/or Petroleum Logistics.
  • Working knowledge/understanding of petroleum logistics optimization strategies.
  • Competency in Discounted Cash Flow and other valuation techniques.
  • The ability to build and foster strong working relationships both within the internal organization as well as external to the Colonial organization.
  • The ability to make effective in-person presentations in high-leverage situations, including to internal Management, customers, or other key external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company’s core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.
  • Self-motivated, have a phenomenal work ethic and looking for the right company to support your growth.

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or other Technical field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in commercial projects.
  • Experience with midstream construction projects or M&A activity.
