Job Summary:



The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a crucial role in overseeing gym operations and staff, reporting directly to the General Manager. The AGM is responsible for achieving membership goals, managing the personal training department, and driving overall gym revenue. This role requires a dynamic leader who can inspire the sales team, ensure a positive member experience, and maintain operational excellence.



Key Responsibilities:




Team Leadership and Supervision:




  • Supervise and assign tasks to gym staff, ensuring efficient operation and alignment with company goals.

  • Develop and implement sales and prospecting strategies to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.

  • Participate in budgeting processes, ensuring financial objectives are met.

  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, compensation, discipline, and termination of employees as needed.

  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for both employees and members.

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of gym equipment to ensure optimal functionality.



Member Engagement and Facility Management:




  • Provide support to both new and existing members, offering assistance on the gym floor to enhance their experience.

  • Ensure the gym remains clean, organized, and compliant with company standards at all times.

  • Provide direction and support to the Personal Training department, front desk, and Kids Club.

  • Manage office and janitorial supplies, as well as oversee building maintenance when the GM is not onsite.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times and uphold company standards in decision-making.



Staffing and Team Development:




  • Build and maintain a motivated and cohesive team that embodies company values and goals.

  • Provide consistent training, coaching, and accountability for direct reports, recognizing strong performance and administering discipline when necessary.

  • Participate in the selection process for Fitness Consultants (FCs) and other staff, making reliable hiring recommendations to the GM and District Manager (DM).

  • Ensure the gym is fully staffed with qualified team members to meet the needs of the Sales Department.



Sales Team Training and Performance Management:




  • Train the Sales Team on generating leads and new business through promotions, referrals, and guest passes.

  • Develop and communicate strategies to help the Sales Team meet their objectives and goals.

  • Monitor Sales Team performance, provide coaching, and create an ambitious work environment.

  • Conduct regular meetings with the Sales Team to review performance and provide motivation and guidance.

  • Set challenging yet achievable targets for the team, and offer career growth opportunities to FCs.

  • Implement corrective actions for team members who do not meet performance expectations.

  • Manage the Sales Team's schedule with support from the GM and DM, and review sales performance and gym statistics regularly with the GM.



Manager on Duty (MOD):



  • Act as the Manager on Duty when the GM is not present, addressing any staff or member issues as they arise.


Gym Tours and Presentations:




  • Interact with guests to create a remarkable experience during facility tours.

  • Inspire guests to purchase memberships by understanding their needs and presenting the gym in a way that resonates with them.

  • Incorporate personal training as a key component of fitness goals during membership presentations.



Sales Management:




  • Ensure all members have an exceptional experience and follow up with them to track their progress toward fitness goals.

  • Generate new business through member promotions, referrals, and guest passes, and diligently follow up on all leads.

  • Lead by example in achieving sales targets for memberships and personal training.



Additional Responsibilities:




  • Assist with front desk duties as needed, providing members with a friendly greeting and prompt service.

  • Execute other duties as assigned by the GM, DM, or Corporate Management.

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including lifting situations of 50+ pounds.


Requirements:




Education and Certification:




  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Required: Current CPR certification.

  • Preferred: Some college education or a bachelor’s degree.



Experience:




  • Preferred: Prior management experience in a service-oriented sales industry, leading 3-10 employees.

  • Preferred: Experience in fitness membership sales.



Skills and Traits:

  • Strong understanding of sales practices and techniques.

  • General knowledge of the fitness industry.

  • Proficient with computers and related software.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

The AGM role may require extended workdays, weekends, and holidays to support the business, with the gym only closing on Christmas Day.






Compensation: $44,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
